BBJ.hu: Budapest ONE office building receives WELL, BREAM certifications

The first phase of Futureal Group’s Budapest ONE office building, which has already been completed, has been awarded the WELL Health-Safety certification, which focuses on the health and well-being of employees. In addition, the second and third phases of the complex, currently under development, have been awarded the BREEAM Excellent Design Stage environmental certification, according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.

The 65,000 sqm office complex is expected to be fully completed in the second half of 2022.

The WELL Health-Safety international rating, which assesses the safe operation of buildings, evaluates six main aspects: proper cleaning and disinfection of the office building, emergency preparedness, availability of medical staff, air and water quality, tenant communication, and innovative approach.

With more than 25,000 square meters of space already completed, the first phase of Budapest ONE has met WELL’s requirements, according to the press release.

Located in Hungary’s largest multimodal hub, at the intersection of Kelenföld railway station, metro line 4 and the M1-M7 motorways, the second phase of the building, covering almost 20,000 sqm, and the third phase, covering 19,000 sqm, were both structurally complete by May 2021. Tenants are expected to start moving into both buildings in the second half of this year. Meanwhile, the two phases have received excellent ratings from the international BREEAM building rating system, which has assessed their sustainability performance.

“Providing a pleasant, inspiring, healthy, green, and safe working environment for its employees, in addition to an excellent location, has become a priority for the tenants. We are therefore particularly proud that Budapest ONE fully meets both people-centered and environmentally friendly requirements. At Futureal, we are committed to developing all our office buildings to the highest WELL and BREEAM standards in the future,” said László Németh, Futureal’s head of sustainability.

Also in response to market needs, Futureal has launched the Stay Safe initiative, which will apply new health and safety standards and technological solutions in the development of Budapest ONE. The complex will also feature a 500-meter panoramic running track on its roof and an underground car park for charging electric bikes and scooters, in addition to electric cars.
